As some of you know, the process to apply for a US performance visa is BEYOND broken. The costs involved are typically $7,000 – $8,000 per band, and this is before we buy their plane tickets, food, hotels, and…you know, pay them for their performance.
Mad With Power fest has always been about keeping things affordable for our fest-goers. Our tickets are three times less expensive than our closest competitors, but even so, these sorts of visa expenses have been destroying our ability to even consider bringing over additional non-US bands in the future.
A number of fans have been asking if they can contribute somehow, as some people are unable to make the fest, and don’t feel comfortable just buying an extra ticket they’re not going to use. To that end, we’ve set up an optional donation page if you’d like to help us offset some of the crushing costs of the visa process.

This is completely optional, so if you are unable to contribute, please don’t feel like you need to. We’ve already paid for visas for this year’s performers, so lack of funds will not determine whether they perform or not. But it will certainly help me to not have to take out a loan against my house to keep the fest running 😉
